I have been phone banking with GOTV for OFA. You should see the lines here in Florida of voters. I live only a mile from the centeral voting place in my county. My grand kids had to get up early before the pole opened on Wed. to get in line to vote. It still had a line waiting when they got there. They have classes all day Tuesday and wanted to make sure they voted. As of yesterday’s early voting tally 3.5 millon has stood in lines to vote in Florida. There is 8.6 regestered voters in Florida and in 2008, 4.4 million voted early and that was with 2 weeks of early voting. We only get 8 days this year. The Dems have turned out the most and are 9 pts. ahead. It will be interesting to see what the count is come Sunday morning in the local paper. My money is on breaking’s 2008’s early voting record. If that isn’t a slap in Gov. Skeletor’s face with his voter suppression laws? It is certainly a warning to his re-election in 2014.
Hey Kiddo, just got back from “uncle” another false alarm, well sort of, at 93 any alarm is a cause for worry but BOY am I tried!
My mother was one of those people that “manned” the polling places during elections. Although a Republican at the beginning, but not at the end, she believed all of us need to participate no matter what and I AGREE. Glad you do too. I love the early voting, I use a mail in ballot myself. One day makes it too hard for everyone and everyone needs to at least try. And YES, slap that Gov. for me. dru
ps, I’m going to try your Pen.Dutch sweet ‘n sour on red cabbage and I may even serve it warm.
Just got done with chat. I had a hard time getting in. Chris said it was my java. Got that squared away and it was just the 2 of us all evening. We really had a nice chat talking about growing up with our families. I had to do a complete restore on this thing. I didn’t do it some one else did. That is why I have not been blogging. I will get back to it. Lots to catch up on.
I am sure things will go well in this election. The people I have been talking to are taking it real personal and plan to vote or already have. The repubs have insulted many in the population. The lines have been too long and I can vote on Tuesday so the people who need to vote early don’t have me in the way. Making these people stand in lines like this is not necessary and it hasn’t stopped people from voting, but it will stop them from voting for him in 2 years.
Keep your eye on Florida on Tuesday night. There has been so much focus on Ohio and the midwest that the media has written off Florida as a loss. Florida is hard to poll because people live in other places and travel in the summer. These old ladies aren’t going to give up their Medicare just to see a blackman get kicked out of office.
Right now dems are 9+ points ahead and in 2008 election the dems were only 5 points ahead in early voting. The dems won the state then. As Al Sharpton says it is not about Obama it is about your Mama.
I really feel for the people on the north east coast. They are not used to this kind of thing happening to them. It has been generations ago since they have had this size of damage to happen. I think that will move votes in Florida because our last experience was under Bush admin and fema was disfunctional then. It also reminds the people how important the government is and needed when there is this kind of distruction.
Give the dressing a try. I have others to pass on too that I make.
I’ll keep my eyes on Florida…you go girlz! dru
