I think I’ll stay home and have my “New Year’s Eve” Traditional Light Supper this year and by-pass all the potential hazards and the expense of going out on this festive eve.

THE SUPPER CONSISTS OF:

labelitlogoAs You might know this is a cause that is VERY near to my heart and it is getting my last $5 donation of the year 2016; give it a thought will you all?  ~~dru~~

Donate Today!
Dear Dru,

We’ve only got a few hours left and we’re still $5,000 short of our budget for 2017.

It’s not much, but every dollar counts and we need to hit this goal if we’re going to keep up the fight for GMO labeling in 2017. Can I count on you to chip in $25 or more right now to help us reach our goal by midnight tonight?

Click here to make a donation to Just Label It and help us raise $5,000 by midnight tonight. Your donation will go toward protecting Americans’ right to know what they’re eating and funding our efforts to shape the nation’s GMO labeling standard.

You know you can count on Just Label It to fight for your right to know when corporate interests invade Washington and try to protect their profits over your rights. But we can’t win this fight without your support.

We accomplished so much in 2016 and have big plans for 2017. We’re ready to fight against Big Food and Big Ag to create a clear, consumer-friendly and comprehensive national GMO labeling standard. But this is difficult work and we’re fighting against Big Food and Ag’s deep pockets. We must to hit our 2017 budget goal if we’re going to stand a chance at creating a clear and consumer-friendly GMO labeling standard.

Please donate $25 or more today. We’re only $5,000 short of meeting our 2017 budget goal, but we must hit it by midnight tonight!

So before you head out to ring in the New Year, do something that will help make 2017 the year that we get finally create a clear, consumer-friendly national GMO labeling standard. Give to Just Label It, as much as you can, to help us reach our goal and continue fighting for your right to know.

Thanks for your support and have a happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Gary Hirshberg
Chairman, Just Label It

Not only is this a wonderful piece of music for the 7th Day of Christmas but it is wonderful for New Year’s Eve too; so I will leave you with BlueBird’s thoughtful music and thought for the day:

 publiclands
Dear Friend of The Trust for Public Land,

I’m reaching out one last time before the new year begins. We get so much out of public lands—clean water, a place to play, a chance to connect with nature and one another. But elected officials want to get rid of lands we jointly own. We have to fight back against the growing threats to our public lands, but we cannot do that without you. Please take this last chance to have your Trust for Public Land gift matched for twice the impact.

The matching gift offer expires at midnight tonight, so there are just a few hours left to make your tax-deductible gift in 2016 to help us tackle the threats to our public lands in 2017 and conserve land for people. Make your tax-deductible year-end gift now, and help us start the new year stronger than ever. Thank you for your generous support.

Happy holidays and best wishes for the new year,
Kim Elliot Signature

Director of Annual Giving

P.S. Another year may be ending, but our fight for public lands is more important now than ever before. Please donate by midnight tonight to double the impact of your gift to conserve landscapes across the country. Thank you!

Since I exploring my “Zen” for the coming year and since I’ve posted this 17th Century Water Color on eBay again; I’m reblogging my own post.

Monks

The practice of Zen entails the unraveling of a koan: a master’s statement, anecdote, or question, designed to provoke a student and test their progress.

Koan, Japanese Kōan, in Zen Buddhism of Japan, a succinct paradoxical statement or question used as a meditation discipline for novices, particularly in the Rinzai sect. The effort to “solve” a koan is intended to exhaust the analytic intellect and the egoistic will, readying the mind to entertain an appropriate response on the intuitive level. Each such exercise constitutes both a communication of some aspect of Zen experience and a test of the novice’s competence.

A characteristic example of the style is the well-known koan “When both hands are clapped a sound is produced; listen to the sound of one hand clapping.” Sometimes the koan is set in question-and-answer form, as in the question “What is Buddha?” and its answer, “Three pounds of…

His Holiness the Dalai Lama Makes a Pilgrimage to the Mahabodhi Temple

December 29th 2016

“Bodhgaya, Bihar, India, 29 December 2016 – Addressing pilgrims who are about to return to Tibet, first thing this morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama told them they were a source of inspiration to Tibetans in exile. He spoke of the value of Tibetan religious traditions and stressed the need to study and develop a sound understanding. He told those who had intended to attend the Kalachakra Empowerment not to worry if circumstances now made that difficult. He encouraged them to remember to think of Kalachakra on 13th, 14th and 15th of the Tibetan month, which correspond to the 11th, 12th and 13th of the common calendar. He assured them that as he gives the Empowerment, he will think of them and keep them in mind, so they can feel confident that they have received its blessings. He mentioned a precedent from the time of the Buddha when, because of circumstances, monastic ordination was given from a distance.”

2017

“Kalachakra in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India from January 2 to 14: His Holiness will be giving the Kalachakra at the request of the Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration. During the first three days of the Kalachakra, from January 2 to 4, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with the monks of Namgyal Monastery and senior lamas, will conduct rituals which prepare and consecrate the venue. These include chanting of prayers, creation of the sand mandala and other rituals. From January 5 to 8, His Holiness will give four days of preliminary teachings on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life (chodjug) and Kamalashila’s The Middling Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa). On January 9, the Kalachakra Ritual Dance will be performed by the monks of Namgyal Monastery. His Holiness will confer the Kalachakra Initiation from January 10 to 13. On January 14, a long life empowerment (tsewang) and a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be performed. (Note: For those people listening to the translation, please ensure that you bring your own fm radios since it will not be possible to get radios in Bodhgaya.)”

“The Chinese government is making Tibetans’ existence unbearable.  Because Tibetans remain committed to nonviolent resistance, we must rally global outrage at the indignities they face – a peaceful people stripped of their basic human rights by Communist misrule, repression and torture.”  Source: [ICT] News Letter

The International Campaign for Tibet is asking for donations help change Tibetan lives and history if you are interested in  making any sort of contribution; even the $5 that I found I could spare for the New Year then please visit the website by clicking the picture below

My aspirations for making better times will include a minimum of one $5 contribution to a cause that is close to my heart and my donation to the ICT will be my send off of the year 2016 and my start to the year 2017, in support of a man and a people that I have come to admire

I am revisiting my few posts from “My Brother’s NoteBook” to help me find serenity at the end of this hectic year. Here is a reblog from my most recent post and probably last since the book seems to be repeating the quotes now; in the Category CyAnts. A fitting beginning I believe to the End of the Old Year. ~~dru~~

dalailamaquote1

“The planet does not need more ‘successful’ people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds. It needs people to live well in their places. It needs people with moral courage willing to join the struggle to make the world habitable and humane and these qualities have little to do with ‘success’ as our culture is the set.”
