Words borrowed from Sanskrit

Swami Vivekananda

1. A religious teacher, mystic, or yogi.
2. A learned man: pundit.

From Hindi swami (master), from Sanskrit swami (master, lord). Ultimately from the Indo-European root s(w)e- (third person reflexive pronoun), which also gave us self, sibling, suicide, secret, sober, sullen, idiot, and Irish Sinn Fein (literally, We Ourselves). Earliest documented use: 1773.

See usage examples of swami in’s dictionary.

National Partnership for Women & Families

Federal contract employees gained the right to earn paid sick days, thanks to the Obama administration. And new paid sick days and paid family and medical leave laws took effect across the country. Together, these advances will improve the lives of more than one million workers.
And we were simply overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for our Women’s Defense Fund during the critical year-end fundraising season. Thanks to hundreds of loyal supporters, we met the $50,000 emergency goal and are hitting the ground running … as the strong, powerful voice women need.

It’s a good thing too, because Republicans wasted no time implementing the first part of their plan to repeal Obamacare, which will take away health insurance from tens of millions of people and increase premiums for millions more. They also took the first step to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

That’s right, extremists in the 115th Congress attacked the Affordable Care Act and Planned Parenthood on day one. Literally.

They are hell bent on taking away our health care, even without a replacement plan. And let’s not mince words: Republicans don’t even have a replacement plan.

That’s why we must rally together and pledge to fight back during the Trump administration’s first 100 days. Things are only going to get worse from here.

ADO VABBE (1892—1961)

Just so my followers can get a little musical culture thru a reblog; so can you get some artistic culture thru another reblog.

Just don’t expect any real culture from me, I just tag along on others shirttails but I have exquisite taste in others. ~~dru~~
