Not to mention that Trump also signed executive actions to advance the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines ~~dru~~

In Saner Thought

Those Damn Executive Orders!

Obama signed a buttload of EOs while in office…not as many as Bush2 or Clinton but a bunch nonetheless ….and of course because he signed them the Right was livid about how he was circumventing the Constitution and defeating our democracy at the same time….

Pres. Trump in his first day of his presidency has signed EOs….you remember EOs, right?

President Trump had a busy morning, signing three executive orders on trade, abortion, and federal hiring, and issuing a warning to US companies that they’ll be penalized if they move overseas. Details:

  • TPP: As promised, Trump signed an order withdrawing the US from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the New York Times points out is President Obama’s most important trade deal, though it was never ratified by Congress. Coupled with Trump’s promise to renegotiate NAFTA, Trump’s trade stance is “a drastic reversal of decades of economic…

Donald Trump just signed executive orders to advance the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines.

We can’t let this go without a fight. Take action today:

Dru — Moments ago, Donald Trump signed executive actions to advance the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, flagrantly ignoring the will of the people who have fought to protect their families from the dangers these pipelines pose.

No amount of “alternative facts” can hide the reality that that these dirty and dangerous pipelines are a bad deal for clean air, safe drinking water, and the communities living along the routes. The only people who will benefit are the rich, international oil companies and their allies and shareholders currently making up President Trump’s rigged cabinet.

We have to fight back. Trump is obsessed with public perception. In the coming weeks, there will be rallies, protests, and more — but the best thing we can do to immediately respond is to take our message to the one place we know he’s paying attention: Twitter.

In his inaugural address, Donald Trump said he is here to return power to the people. Let’s show him what we want:

Tweet at Donald Trump! Show him what people power really looks like and tell him #NoKXL and #NoDAPL »

(If you don’t have Twitter you can still make your voice heard. Sign this petition and tell Donald Trump you want clean energy jobs and NOT dirty and dangerous pipelines.)

Donald Trump thinks because he narrowly won the Electoral College that he can get away with silencing climate action and pushing forward dangerous pipelines. Here’s the truth: Trump did not win the popular vote and he does not have a mandate to lead.

We the People know that our climate cannot afford more fossil fuels. We know that pipeline spills can contaminate drinking water and can pose irreparable damage to our environment and special and sacred places. We know that if we want good jobs for all, we must invest in clean energy where we are seeing rapid growth and advancement.

We must join the millions strong who stood in defiance of Trump at Saturday’s Women’s Marches and fight for our future; and those who have stood up before to these dangerous pipelines. We must show Trump that if he wants to destroy our environment and put our communities at risk he has to deal with us.

Let’s BOMBARD Trump’s Twitter accounts with messages so he truly feels the impact of his actions. Tweet at Trump Today »

(If you don’t have Twitter you can still make your voice heard. Sign this petition and tell Donald Trump you want clean energy jobs and NOT dirty and dangerous pipelines.)

LCV supporters adamantly oppose the Keystone XL pipeline and fully support the Standing Rock Sioux’s opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline and the call for a full environmental review. Together, we can show Trump we mean business and will not rest until we win.

Thank you for fighting with us,

Dru, your name could save thousands of sea turtles

Help save endangered and threatened sea turtles today >>

If you could save as many as 2,500 endangered and threatened sea turtles from needlessly dying each year with a simple signature, would you?

Now’s your chance to do just that – Add your name right now to save thousands of endangered and threatened sea turtles from dying this year >>

Each year, thousands of endangered and threatened sea turtles drown in shrimp trawl nets in the Southeast Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Trapped with nowhere to escape, these sea turtles look to you for help.

We have a proven solution to save sea turtles. Turtle Excluder Devices, or TEDs, are metal grates inserted into trawl nets that give sea turtles and other wildlife an escape route and a chance to live. TEDs have been shown to be 97 percent effective at saving captured sea turtles.

Thanks to thousands of Wavemakers like you and a lawsuit Oceana filed in 2015, the government recently proposed a rule requiring life-saving TEDs in U.S. skimmer, pusher-head and wing net shrimp trawls.

But that rule won’t become final unless we speak up, Dru – sea turtles will keep dying.

Add your name now to show your support for the proposed TED rule and ensure thousands of endangered and threatened sea turtles live to see another year >>

With six of the seven sea turtle species in U.S. waters endangered or threatened with extinction that’s life-saving progress these animals need.

We’ve made it this far together – We can’t quit now.

Another thought provoking post, well worth the read. ~~dru~~

Well “HE” and I are part of the undeserving poor but unlike good ole Alfred P, we’re not happy about it. Not only can we not fix the roof, the oven, or the dryer but now he is have minor surgery and won’t be working. Pay for a little emergency? Hell we can’t make the mortgage and are rate is increasing (marginally I’ll admit in February) I’m soo soo soo TIRED!

I am spending Trump’s first full week writing about the situations that he will be facing and even predicting a few things to come…..

Just how are most Americans coping these days with the economy and their finances?

Minor emergencies like a busted pipe, flat tire or a root canal happen all the time. But for the majority of Americans, such inconveniences are potential recipes for financial ruin, according to a new survey by finance site

In the survey released on Wednesday, Bankrate found that 63 percent of Americans don’t have enough saved to cover even a $500 financial setback. And just half of higher income respondents (defined as $75,000 or more in annual earnings) said they have enough cash to handle such an emergency.

Now there will be those on the Right that will…

Now that all the pomp and ceremony is done it is time for me to get back to work with the international relations and conflict analysis….

WE are in our new president’s first full week of rule…..and the news is that his choice for SecState, Tillerson, will be confirmed after weeks of confusion and misdirection……and now it is time for the new admin to face the crises waiting on the horizon….especially internationally…..

Trump wants to undo the liberal international order the U.S. built and replace it with a 19th-century model of nationalism and mercantilism. Its unwinding cannot, and will not, be pretty.

We do not know if the period we are about to enter under the presidency of Donald Trump will be as turbulent as the 1910s, the 1930s, the 1940s, or even the 1960s. But it is a safe bet that if such turbulence were to recur in our…
