I WANT A FRIEND BOLOGNA SANDWICH
WITH MAYONNAISE
OH MY LORD IT’S A FLAT BED FORD SLOWING DOWN TO TAKE A LOOK AT ME!
A bologna sandwich is a ho-hum but ubiquitous lunch option. Especially in the South, this sandwich gets a variation as a fried bologna sandwich. It’s simple to make. Just fling the bologna onto a lightly buttered griddle or nonstick pan and fry it up until it’s browned. The thicker the cut of bologna, the better, so ask for it from the deli counter instead of buying it prepackaged. It’s a Southern favorite on the level of tomato sandwiches. And yes, you can top it with tomatoes. You can also heap on chili, slaw, cheese or mustard to a fried bologna sandwich for variety.

And a red onion slice….chuq
That sounds interesting, if I give in to this urge and I am going to the market, I’ll try it. I have the onion already. THANX chuq. Give you one guess what came over me in the middle of the night…yeah the munchies. ~~dru~~
Almost everything is better with a slice of red onion…LOL Have a good Sunday….chuq
I haven’t had one in years, and now I want one! I always liked mine with cheese, but any way is just fine.
One in years is probably the most you should indulge but last night I was overcome with this urge. I couldn’t give in because I never have bolonga on hand but if I go out and buy some because the urge is still strong, I may try a slice of old processed cheese to add to the overall grease count. I was really craving grease last night and now I’ll ruminate on “with cheese”. ~~dru~~
I’m not supposed to eat processed meats on a regular basis because of salt and other chemicals in them, so once a year probably should take care of me on this treat, too! That said, having the deli people cut off one thick slice of this treat instead of buying package of pre-sliced bologna is a good idea for how to get that once-a-year fried bologna sandwich. Like you, processed cheese (another no-no for me!) sounds like a winner to add to the goodness of this fat-saturated death bomb. Yum!
I know for everyone this is really a no no sandwich, even small kids but like you I have some health related issues that make it a time bomb. I’m still contemplating ONE though with a single sliced whacked off at the deli too. I don’t know where this craving came from; no one mentioned it and I saw no visual reminders until I went looking for it. I too think the idea of deli cut is a great one, rather than two or three slices curled up from frying on big thick slice sounds like heaven. I’m gonna fight the urge though….it is just plain a simple bad for me. BUT aaaahhhhhh what a thought.~~dru~~
Reblogged this on O LADO ESCURO DA LUA.
Interesting food
Probably one of the worst things you can eat, except perhaps a bacon sandwich but still one a year won’t hurt you. ~~dru~~
