Our Revolution

Health care is a human right. There is something horribly wrong when a country as wealthy as America cannot help guarantee what countries far smaller than ours do. As part of our Summer for Progress we are pressuring Democrats and Republicans to support Medicare for All legislation in the House. HR 676, the Medicare for All Act, could determine the fate of millions of uninsured people. Your support is critical in our grassroots effort to demand that our Representatives in Congress support the same level of health care for all Americans that they receive compliments of the American taxpayers.

Sign our petition for House Democrats to support HR 676, the Medicare for All Act, as part of our Summer for Progress lobbying effort for the People’s Platform.

Kraken

This Massive Kraken Was Spotted Underwater In A Japanese Harbor

BY THE RAINFOREST SITE

Opportunities to see giant squid in open waters are extremely rare. Although these mammoth sea creatures live in all of the world’s oceans, they prefer to make their homes in deep waters, out of sight of divers. Akinobu Kimura lucked out in his chance encounter with a giant squid in the relatively shallow waters of Toyama Bay in Japan. He was even able to capture it on video.

Kimura says that his interest in the creature pushed aside any fear, despite the squid’s bursts of ink and its attempts to ensnare him in its enormous tentacles. Although the squid did not injure the diver, he said that the squid’s strong suckers caused him some pain. Click to read CNN article

While the 12-foot-long squid seems huge, it actually is a fairly small representative of its species; giant squid can grow to as long as 43 feet.

I second the motion, provide more heat to the Republican Party on this matter. ~~dru~~

musingsofanoldfart

Summer is in full force here in the Northern Hemisphere. If I don’t get my yard work started before Noon, it is not happening. I worked through 12:30 pm today and am a worn out camper.

Speaking of heat, the Senior and Junior Donald are feeling the heat right now. More than a few conservative reporters, pundits and legislators are concerned over Junior’s zeal to collude with Russia and his evasive storytelling. As Charles Krauthammer noted in his column, the ability for Senior to claim this is a media and Democrat witchhunt is now over.

Continuing with the theme of heat, a large chunk of Antarctica sea ice fell into the ocean. The fact that it was the size of Rhode Island should be a wake up call. Melting sea ice won’t directly increase sea level, but the buffer it provided to land ice is gone. And, as land ice…

Our Revolution

This week, our country became the laughingstock of the world when Donald Trump announced his shameful and foolhardy decision to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord. This administration’s commitment to bankrolling fossil fuel industry donors like the Koch brothers is unique in the world. By allowing billionaires and corporations to buy elections, they have carte blanche to force our government to deny the empirical evidence of climate change….

These climate deniers try to spin their greed using excuses like “I am not a scientist,” “the earth is made as God intended,” and other empty platitudes to deflect any accountability to their own decisions.

We want to defeat the entire corrupt edifice of profitability in pollution. From the oil,

Oil, natural gas, and coal are finite. They will run out before the end of this century. By pulling out of the Paris Agreement, Trump has already surrendered America’s position as the leader of the free world. If we continue on the course that he’s charted for the country, the free world will leave us behind. We’ll be left, scratching the dirt where the oil wells and coal mines used to be, wondering where it all went wrong….

Republicans are playing politics with our health care again, and coverage for tens of millions of Americans is hanging in the balance.

They’re racing to pass a new version of their disastrous health care plan, which could kick millions of people off their insurance and gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, leading to spiking premiums.

For many Americans, affordable health care is literally a matter of life and death. It’s absolutely unacceptable for Republicans to force through a half-baked bill that could leave millions without the care they need. Add your name to tell the GOP: Don’t gut our health care!  click here to sign
